Evaluation of Northern Rivers Region Flood Risk Awareness Project

BRIEF

The Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program (NRRRP)is a $150 million joint initiative of the Australian and NSW Governments, designed to support the Northern Rivers region in recovering from the catastrophic 2022 floods and to strengthen resilience against future disasters.

The program is made up of 36 project to reduce risk, build community capacity and enable evidence-based preparedness and recovery.

The Regional Community Flood Risk Awareness Project is one of these projects and aims to improve flood awareness and preparedness across the Northern Rivers.
The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) engaged NSF Consulting via CRED Consulting to conduct an evaluation of the Community Flood Risk Awareness Project.

APPROACH

The evaluation draw on two phases of social research conducted by CRED Consulting, combined with a qualitative research program conducted by Natalie Fisher, involved in-depth interviews with 13 key partners and internal stakeholders. Relevant internal documentation and previous studies were also reviewed.

An evaluation report is currently being prepared that analyses the Project in terms of its appropriateness, efficiency and effectiveness.
