Renewal of National Capital Exhibition

National Capital Authority
2009

BRIEF

The National Capital Exhibition (NCE) is an important cultural venue in Canberra that tells the story of the history and significance of Canberra in the
light of the Griffin Plan, implemented 100 years ago. A Master Plan was required to scope the concept for the renewal of the National Capital Exhibition.

APPROACH

The project involved a series of curatorial reviews of the current NCE displays, which included the design and use of space to communicate messages with target audiences. Audience research was conducted to explore how the venue was currently being used as well as to test concepts with NCE’s key visitor segments. A series of reports were prepared to guide the next stages of the design and development of the venue. These included a Creative Brief, Master Plan, Implementation Strategy, Curatorial Assessment, Signage Audit and Stakeholder Report.
