Business Needs Assessment

Willoughby City Council
2009

BRIEF

Willoughby Council was working with North Sydney, Ku-Ring-Gai and Hornsby Councils to develop a program to encourage local businesses to engage in sustainable business practices.

This business needs assessment was required to enable the group to understand the issues that contribute to business sustainability and to gauge the level of interest in further engagement in sustainable business practices on the north shore of Sydney.

APPROACH

The main components of the assessment were an online survey of businesses across Sydney’s north shore, in-depth interviews with business chambers in the region, face to face interviews with small to medium local businesses and the preparation of written case studies to profile a range of personal stories.

A detailed Business Needs Assessment Report was prepared that discussed the findings of the research and provided strategic recommendations to help the working group prioritise the business sectors to work with.
