Evaluation of Creative Recovery Pilot Project
Arts Queensland2012
BRIEF
Following Queensland devastating natural disasters in early 2011, a pilot program was funded by Arts Queensland Australia Council for the Arts to support community recovery in three of the areas worst affected by the disasters– Cassowary Coast, Ipswich and Lockyer Valley. The program involved using arts-based activities to contribute to community recovery and rebuilding. An evaluation was required to assess the extent to which the arts meaningfully supported these three communities to recover and rebuild and the success of the model.
APPROACH
The evaluation comprised consultation with internal and external stakeholders, in-depth interviews with artists and arts workers in each of the three regions, participation in a Creative Recovery National Forum and the preparation of multi media case studies. Time was spent in each of the three regions to gain an appreciation for the range of issues associated with recovery and rebuilding.
A detailed Evaluation Report was prepared that included findings from the evaluation as well as a series of key strategic recommendations.
