Regional Engagement Guidelines Toolkit

Regional Arts Australia
2018

BRIEF

Regional Arts Australia is a membership organisation with a purpose of enabling artistic expression and furthering the interests of regional Australian artists, arts organisations and communities. The organisation promotes culture and activity that enriches and nurtures pride, resilience, empowerment, connectivity and healing in communities through support of arts and cultural activity.

APPROACH

NSF Consulting was commissioned to prepare a Regional Engagement Guidelines Toolkit to support and promote meaningful engagement for those working in the cultural sector in regional Australia.

The guidelines document involved an extensive and in-depth consultation process. Qualitative interviews were conducted with more than 100 stakeholders from across Australia, including peak regional arts bodies, regional arts organisations, regional local government, metropolitan based arts organisations, regional artists, touring performing arts organisations, tertiary institutions, First Nations organisations, state government, federal government, academics and consultants.

A Guidelines Document was prepared, accompanied by a series of case studies from around the country in video and written format, showcasing good practice in cultural collaboration in regional Australia.
