Develop Staff Assessment Instruments

Old Parliament House, Canberra
2011

BRIEF

It was important for the Museum of Australian Democracy to understand how to identify areas of training and skills that may need to be improved for its staff and volunteers. An evaluation instrument was required to facilitate in-house evaluation of volunteers and staff.  Additionally, a self-assessment instrument needed to be developed to be used with no or minimum supervision by volunteers and staff involved in the delivery of public tours and interpretation at Old Parliament House.

APPROACH

The project was carried out through a collaborative process with the Museum team, their volunteers and staff.
Key tasks of the process included in-depth interviews with staff and volunteers, the design of evaluation instruments, pilot testing evaluation instruments, and the preparation of a user manual.  All materials created for the project were brought together in a Report and User Manual.
